The Quality Assurance and Planning Office (QAPO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi is hosting a five-day working visit from the Directorate of Planning and Quality Assurance of Ho Technical University (HTU).
The visit, scheduled for August 25–29, 2025, will focus on strengthening quality assurance and higher education management.
The HTU team was exposed to the operations of KNUST’s QAPO, which is recognised for its success in quality assurance systems. The exchange also provided a platform for sharing experiences and exploring ways to improve processes at HTU.

Dr. Edward Kwame Ayimey, HTU’s Director of Planning and Quality Assurance, said his team sought to learn from KNUST’s experience.
“As a growing university, we feel we should learn from KNUST because you are a giant, especially when it comes to TVET academic programmes,” he said.
Mr. Abraham Adusei, Head of KNUST’s Institutional Planning Department, noted that quality assurance in higher education is an evolving concept.
“Quality assurance in higher education requires continuous improvement so we learn from them, and they also learn from us,” he said.
The visit included an overview of QAPO’s structure and functions, planning and quality assurance processes, and decentralisation strategies. Initial discussions on a potential capacity development partnership between the two institutions were also held.
